{"id":1,"date":"2009-03-24T03:59:06","date_gmt":"2009-03-24T07:59:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.knottinbotswana.com\/kib_blog\/?p=1"},"modified":"2009-03-24T18:38:51","modified_gmt":"2009-03-24T16:38:51","slug":"entry_into_the_blogosphere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.knottinbotswana.com\/index.php\/2009\/03\/entry_into_the_blogosphere\/","title":{"rendered":"Entry into the blogosphere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a few months working on <a title=\"Joomla Content Management System\" href=\"http:\/\/www.joomla.org\/\">Joomla<\/a> and starting up a few websites I thought it was time to broaden my horizons and try <a title=\"WordPress\" href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\">WordPress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than rolling it out on a commercial site and having to ride the learning curve whilst keeping a client happy I have decided to use it for my own blog.\u00a0 When we get connected at home the other family members may join the fray.<\/p>\n<p>I have set it up on my own webspace which is hosted at <a title=\"Webhosting by Brinkster\" href=\"http:\/\/www.brinkster.com\/redirect.aspx?rf=mikeknott\">Brinkster<\/a> on a Windows server with php and MySQL (more on that in another post, another day).<\/p>\n<p>WordPress was easy to upload and configure, and I have already added a <a title=\"Google AdSense\" href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/adsense\">Google AdSense<\/a> plugin, <a title=\"Easy AdSense\" href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/plugins\/easy-adsenser\/\">Easy AdSense<\/a>, and the <a title=\"Atahualpa WordPress Theme\" href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/themes\/atahualpa\">Atahualpa theme<\/a> which has a ridiculous number of options &#8211; so you can expect this blog to do some <a title=\"Wikipedia: Shapeshifting\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shapeshifting\">shapeshifting<\/a> in the coming days, weeks and months.<\/p>\n<p>I also added my <a title=\"Google Analytics\" href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/analytics\/\">Google Analytics<\/a> tracking code to the site so I can monitor comings and goings on the site.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a few months working on Joomla and starting up a few websites I thought it was time to broaden my horizons and try WordPress.
